Teaching

I am spending the 2010-11 academic year as a visiting lecturer in mathematics here at the University of Stirling, as I take a sabbatical leave from my home institution, Carroll College, in Helena, Montana, USA. During Fall 2010 I will be teaching tutorials for MAT911 and MAT913 and doing some of the lecturing for MAT913.

Background

After growing up in Homer, Alaska, I earned B.S. degrees in Mathematics and Physics from Eastern Oregon University in 1998. From 1998 to 2003 I attended graduate school at the University of Colorado at Boulder, where I received M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the department of Astrophysical and Planetary Sciences. I then joined the faculty of Carroll College, in Helena, Montana in fall 2003, where I am currently an Associate Professor of Mathematics and Astronomy in the Department of Mathematics, Engineering, and Computer Science. Public Lectures I greatly enjoy giving public talks about fun and interesting subjects relating to mathematics, astronomy, and physics. I have three more talks scheduled:
