Computing Science and Mathematics Prizes 2010-11

The prizes detailed here are awarded most years, depending on availability, and on quality of students. The availability of the Sword-Ciboodle prize is confirmed for 2012, and it is anticipated that the division prizes (best 1st year, best 2nd year, etc) will also be available.

Computing Science Prize Winners

Fourth Year

Best CSC9Z7/ZZ/9Z project (£100): Erin Scott

Erin Scott was also our nominee for the British Computer Society Award for the Best Information Technology Student at the SET (Science, Engineering & Technology) Student of the Year Awards organised by the Leadership Forum.
Alan Hunter was our nominee for the Young Software Engineer of the Year at the ScotlandIS Awards for his project work. His project was ranked second for the year, but has much more software engineering.

Third Year

Best 3rd year performance (£100): Tobias Haag
(judged across all modules taken in semesters 5 and 6)

Best Software Engineering student in third year honours (£500): Alan Donalson and James Ferry
Sword-Ciboodle have generously donated this prize and we judge this across performance in the core software engineering modules CSC9P5 and CSC9P6. The two students were very close at the top, so the prize was split.

Second Year

Best 2nd year performance (£100): Kevin Graham and Andrew Rafferty
(judged across modules CSC933 and CSC9V4)

First Year

Best 1st year performance (£50): Duncan Eastoe
