Second Year CS Students Win Prize at DevXS, Lincoln

Kristopher Early and Enrico Teterra went to the DevXS Camp (or Hackathon) in the University of Lincoln, from 11-13 November 2011. This is a conference aimed at undergraduate and postgraduate web developers, and consists of a number of challenges as well as talks from figures in the field of Web Development.

Kristopher and Enrico were very successful: their team, Team Wallace, won the University of Southampton Smart Research Frameworks 1st Prize: COSHH.

Kris Early said:

“The most interesting part of the event was the Lightning talks and the Keynote speeches. I personally learned a lot from these, particularly the keynote speech on RDF databases by an expert which further helped us with out challenge. Furthermore, there were excellent talks by software developers who have professional jobs talking about the future and what is expected of us as software developers.

The event is excellent for meeting people and developing good social skills. Other people attending the event were more than accommodating for any question they could answer: for example we had a few questions about Android development, and 'David' dropped what he was doing and came and helped us, even though he had no obligations.

So all in all, excellent event I would encourage and openly talk to anyone thinking about going, especially people on the CS degree.”

Congratulations to Kris and Enrico.
