This PostScript Type 3 (user-defined) font defines coloured characters for the international signal flags, as might be used in yacht racing or generally at sea. Beware that the characters of this font are coloured. This means that the current PostScript colour is ignored. More importantly it means that characters are not cached by the PostScript machinery, making rendering very slow compared to normal fonts. Some word processors also have problems with Type 3 fonts.
The character coding is as follows:
Char | Meaning |
---|---|
A-Z | letters |
a-z | letters at 70% size |
0-9 | numerals |
? | code and answering pennant |
! | first substitute |
@ | second substitute |
# | third substitute |
. | finish |
< | marks to port |
> | marks to starboard |
