What is Jini?

Jini is a networking technology that aims to make a network operate more like one large computer than a collection of interconnected ones.

Jini was created by Sun Microsystems, who are well known because they designed the Java programming language which Jini uses. By creating the Jini architecture, Sun has developed a way for a network to react instantly to new devices being connected, downloading the required software instead of manually installing the devices driver software.
