Finding Solutions to Stakeholder Requirementss
The University Of Glasgow has identified a number of possible solutions which could counteract the effect of Stakeholder Conflicts.
The first possibility is to design the technologies that will used for the home care system around identified problems, instead of creating an implementation and dealing with the consequences later. This, however, does have the disadvantage of requiring a lot of initial planning. Not every conceivable conflict could be addressed before the system is up and running.
It would be possible to wait until the system has been completed and rely on the configurable nature of the system to address problems later. This also comes with the disadvantage that there may be a substantial loss of system functionality as changes are made.
The second possibility is to get stakeholders involved with the project. From a design viewpoint, stakeholder feedback on what the system can do, will do and how it will go about it is invaluable. This will allow conflicts to be highlighted before they become an issue.
The MATCH project is making use of dramatizations to investigate the project approach, including highlighting issues of Stakeholder Conflict. The University of Dundee is working on dramatization aspects.
