Advantages / Disadvantages of Dynamic Configurability
Advantages
- It can let users know about features they have not previously encountered.
- It can support shortcuts to aid quicker use.
- The system can be set up just as the user wants, allowing their preferences to decide the system behaviour.
Disadvantages:
- Some users may be uncomfortable with a system that can make its own decisions (even if inspired by user preferences).
- A dynamically configurable system would have to handle many combinations of user requirements, real-life situations, and possible conflicts among system actions.
